We’d love to hear from you.

As a baby publication, we are hungry for your ideas.
Email heartnotepress@gmail.com with the following:
- “PITCH” at the beginning of your subject line
- Your name (this will be your listed name as author if your piece is published)
- Links to any previous work
- Estimated word count and proposed due date
- A brief description of your idea
- A little bit about yourself (if you want)
- If your idea is particularily timely, add “TIMELY” to subject line.

A good pitch gives an idea of why a reader should care: is it trending or timely in the perfume world? Does it have a fresh unexpected angle that might draw in new audiences? Are you the authority on the subject? It doesn’t have to be long or completely fleshed out.
We accept original work in the following forms:
Cultural criticism, personal essays, theory, history, or longform reflections on scent.
Memoir-driven or narrative work rooted in lived olfactory experience.
Ongoing or standalone diary entries, scent logs, seasonal journals.
Thoughtful, well-argued critiques of fragrances, brands, trends, or scent culture. We value insight over hype.
Perfumers, brands, artists, retailers, historians, or other figures shaping the culture.
Literary writing inspired by scent—lyrical, abstract, narrative, or experimental.
Hybrid forms, fragments, lists, collages, epistolary pieces, or work that resists categorization
